Announcing Project New Wave

On behalf of the KRLX Board of Directors committee working on this, I am proud to announce KRLX Project New Wave.

Project New Wave is a project to renovate and update the station by replacing aging equipment, and remodeling the space to make better use of what we have and expand for the future. It’s a comprehensive overhaul of KRLX, with the intention of moving towards a long-term vision of broadcasting, alternative and new media creation, and KRLX’s role as a social organization on campus.

You can see a full plan of our long-term vision at tatebosler.com/krlx/remodel.

What’s up next for the project

Current Carleton students will be voting to approve funding the first phase of the project. This will give KRLX a grant of $8,000 (from student activity fees) to replace the majority of our mission-critical equipment. If funded, we will have new gear in place and ready to go for the start of spring term radio.

We are working with the Sayles renovation committee to determine a timeline for facilities upgrades. This will determine when (and how much) we request funding for Phase 2.

I’m a current Carl, how do I support the project?

Right now, the biggest thing to do is VOTE YES on Measure A (and make sure your friends do too)! This is how the project can actually get funded. Polls will be open from Thursday night (at 9pm) until Sunday night (at 9pm) with results announced on Monday, February 13.

When Phase 2 comes up for your vote in the future, please support that measure as well!

I’m a Carleton alum, can I support?

We’re working with the administrative offices in charge of the project to figure out logistics, but please do get in touch if you’re a Carleton alum and want to help support the project.

Questions?

If you have questions, please get in touch and the remodeling committee is happy to answer them.
